With a history dating back to the 1880′s in the Dry Creek Valley Mauritson has long been an outstanding choice for a luxury gift basket and for wine in general. These days the family is one of the largest and most successful Sonoma based growers, currently planting at least four thousand acres in vine throughout the region. Clay Mauritson is perhaps the most famous family member because of his time as a college football linebacker at Oregon and his current responsibilities as winemaker and proprietor at the vineyard. In fact the quality of wines being produced have probably never been higher, especially the aptly named Mauritson Zinfandel’s which have often been scored in the 90 point range according to almost every major wine critic. These are deep, lush even brooding wines which have consumers salivating at the thought of being able to purchase them for everything from an average Tuesday to a special occasion.
